Standard Galerkin approximations, using smooth splines to solutions of the Kuramoto‐Tsuzuki equation are analyzed. The existence, uniqueness, and convergence of the fully discrete Crank‐Nicolson scheme are discussed. Furthermore, a second‐order convergent linearized Galerkin approximation are derived.
