Explores increasing reproducibility in bioinformatics, suggesting effective training methods.
Reproducibility in bioinformatics analyses remains a major challenge. Workflow systems have emerged as essential tools for enhancing reproducibility by orchestrating data analyses, managing software environments, and facilitating sharing and re-execution. However, their complexity can hinder adoption. To address this, we developed "Reprohackathons" – specialized training sessions that combine theoretical insights with hands-on practice. This chapter highlights the importance of such training in promoting workflows, details the Reprohackathon format, and offers recommendations for teaching bioinformatics students and researchers to design reproducible analyses. By equipping scientists with workflow expertise, these initiatives foster a culture of reproducibility, strengthening the credibility and reliability of scientific research.
