AOC Archaeology Group was commissioned by Scottish Water to carry out a Level 3 historic building survey as a condition of planning and listed building consent prior to repair work of the spillway and replacement of the associated road bridge at Gladhouse Reservoir near Gorebridge, Midlothian. The work was required as a condition of the planning consent on the development. The spillway and road bridge at Gladhouse Reservoir are a classic example of Victorian civil architecture constructed on a grand scale. The Spillway and its walls remain in good overall condition with the road bridge likely having changed little with the exception of resurfacing and re painting.
