A bstract Despite technological advances, Saṁhitā - Paṭhana , the structured method of reading, reciting, and memorizing Ayurvedic texts, remains a vital pedagogical practice. This traditional approach involves methodical reading ( Pāṭha ), understanding meanings ( Avabodha ), and practical application ( Anuṣṭhāna ). Classical texts recommend meticulous reading with proper articulation and unwavering attention. Various reading techniques, such as Pada Pāṭha , Krama Pāṭha , and Jaṭā Pāṭha , etc., enhance retention and maintain textual accuracy. Scientific studies indicate rhythmic reading reduces stress, improves concentration, and enhances cognitive function. Beyond rote memorization, Saṁhitā-Paṭhana fosters critical thinking, essential for clinical practice and research. This practice also maintains the linguistic precision necessary for treatments like Daivavyapāśraya Cikitsā . While modern education increasingly relies on translations and digital resources, direct engagement with original Sanskrit texts preserves nuanced meanings often lost in translation. Despite declining language proficiency and technological dependence, revitalizing Saṁhitā-Paṭhana remains crucial for authentic Ayurvedic education. Understanding texts in Vākyaśaḥ (aphoristic form), Arthaśaḥ (meaning), and Arthāvayavaśaḥ (critical analysis) constitutes the complete learning process, ensuring Ayurveda’s continued relevance and application.
