Interview series highlights diversity in early-career researchers and their contributions to experimental biology.
ECR Spotlight is a series of interviews with early-career authors from a selection of papers published in Journal of Experimental Biology and aims to promote not only the diversity of early-career researchers (ECRs) working in experimental biology but also the huge variety of animals and physiological systems that are essential for the ‘comparative’ approach. Jakub Štenc is an author on ‘ Learning to be unfaithful – preferences and flower constancy of Eristalis tenax (Syrphidae) decrease with experience’, published in JEB. Jakub conducted the research described in this article while a PhD student in Zdeněk Janovský's lab at Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic. Jakub is now a postdoc at CREAF, Centre for Ecological Research and Forestry Applications, Bellaterra, Spain, investigating how plants sharing pollinators can co-exist.
