The present study describes two novel species of Gyroporus : G. asiaticus and G. himalayanus , from the north‐west Himalayan region of India. This discovery resulted from the collections of our repeated macrofungal surveys for boletoid mushrooms conducted in the forest of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the state of Himachal Pradesh in India. Thorough macro‐ and micromorphological characterization, along with multilocus phylogenetic analyses based on nrITS, nrLSU (28S), and TEF 1‐α sequence data, robustly resolved G . asiaticus and G . himalayanus as two distinct and well‐supported lineages in both maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference analyses.
