Review discusses the development of dynamic covalent foams for improved sustainability in polymers, suggesting new methods for end-of-life management.
Polymer foams are widely used and versatile materials but have limited end-of-life options, posing serious environmental challenges. Recent research has shown that a promising route to answer this issue lies in introducing reversible bonds during synthesis or via post-consumer modification, which upon foaming yields dynamic covalent polymer foams. These dynamic foams are high performance materials that can be reshaped and reprocessed, thus bridging the gap between performance and sustainability.
