Abstract

Mixed reality acoustic contents without vision are made and presented at the special exhibition “braille 200 year's anniversary—experiencing visually impaired world” in Osaka Kansai Expo 2025. Exhibition guests wear an eye mask, Bluetooth headphones, and hang a smartphone in which interactive audio contents depending on positions detecting by cameras and sensors are installed. They walk thorough a course consisting of a narrow path from a start point to a goal, by hearing instructions, environmental sounds, and human voices of the contents, and by touching and feeling walls and objects. The theme of the contents is a time travel into old, current, and future of Osaka city. In the course, guests walk thorough in soundscapes and enjoy sounds. Walls and grounds were filled with stones, grasses, sands, soils, pebbles, so that they can enjoy emotional feelings from touching senses. As interactive contents, they must do some actions such as walk straight, turn around, stay, and squat. Also, they must take quizzes, answering by actions. The contents were developed by student members of the acoustic MR(mixed reality) project. The concept of the contents is that human can get much information and rich senses and feelings only from hearing without vision.
