The earlier text stated that the child independently defined every term of the equation Em = F c² / r² and independently placed "distinction" at the foundation of the system. That was too strong. The more accurate record is conversational: Dainton showed the equation; he described Em as energy and mass, F as force or ignition, c² as the speed of light, and r² as resistance. Malin then proposed RSF-compatible readings - resistant plasma for r², and ignition as the first distinction for F - and Dainton was comfortable with those proposed meanings. The equation therefore remains worth preserving as a family-origin symbol, a catalyst, and a compact mnemonic.
