Survey reports noise annoyance from vibration effects in areas around the Hokuriku Shinkansen extension, indicating public concern.
In March 2024, the Hokuriku Shinkansen was extended, and service began on the section from Tokyo to Tsuruga in Fukui Prefecture. In 2016, a survey was conducted 1 year after the line opened to Kanazawa, which revealed that the effects of parallel conventional railway lines and vibrations from the Shinkansen could influence noise annoyance. This year, a questionnaire survey is being conducted in both the newly opened area and the area surveyed in 2016. Focusing on previously identified issues and the potential effects of long-term changes, this study reports the survey outline and its findings.
