The medical aim of screening is to improve the health of the general population by early detection and treatment of disease. The economic aims are, in the short term, to save the time of highly trained doctors by using technicians or automated procedures, and in the long run, to treat early disease so as to lengthen the productive life of the persons at risk [1]. Thus, screening has been widely spreading as a practical approach to reducing the mortality rate from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
