A BSTRACT A case of a 20-year-old male who presented in our institute with complains of high-grade fever, weakness, and throat pain for 5 days. On examination, the patient was found to have pharyngeal wall erythema. Blood cultures for the patient were indicative of Salmonella typhi resistant to Fluoroquinolones. Subsequent tonsillar cultures were showed the presence of the same Salmonella in the enlarged tonsils. The patient was managed with a short 1-week course of IV ceftriaxone and chlorhexidine mouthwash for throat pain. The patient became afebrile on day 10 of admission and was discharged. On follow-up, there was a complete of resolution of throat pain symptoms as well. This is a highly unsual case of Salmonella -induced tonsillitis. Salmonella is shown to invade lymphoid tissue in the GI track, especially the intestines where it invades the payers patches but the invasion of pharyngeal tonsills is highly atypical and has been scarcely described.
