Observes no archaeological features during excavation of test pits in Lincolnshire, implying prior ground leveling.
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the excavation of five geotechnical test pits for a proposed development at Stamford School Sports Centre on Conduit Road in Stamford, Lincolnshire. The site has been subjected to landscaping prior to the erection of the current sport centre. No archaeological features or deposits were encountered during the watching brief. A series of natural clays were recorded which suggests that any archaeology that may have been present on site would have been removed by the levelling of the grounds.
