Case report reveals successful surgical management of basal cell carcinoma in a male with LUTS, suggesting effective treatments.
Prostatic Basal Cell Carcinoma is an uncommon cancer that is different from most cancers because it does not usually have elevated PSA levels at presentation and is thus often diagnosed late. We report a case of a man who presented with lower urinary tract symptoms and had an unremarkable PSA level. He was diagnosed by histological and immunohistochemical methods after a transurethral resection. After completing a radical prostatectomy along with a lymphadenectomy, he had no further evidence of disease at the end of 6 months follow-up. This case illustrates the role of immunohistochemistry and reinforces the surgical management of this tumor.
