Surgical approaches for mandibular condylar head fractures typically use preauricular incisions. However, exposure of the anteroinferomedially displaced mandibular condylar head fragment necessitates the elevation of a relatively thick soft-tissue flap. The authors have proposed and validated a novel temporal hairline approach, which enables rapid exposure of the anteroinferomedially displaced condylar fracture fragment. The incision is well-concealed within the hairline of the temporal region. It is indicated for condylar head fractures and is also applicable to other temporomandibular joint-related surgeries.
