Abstract In this study, we investigated the enhancement of electrochemical performance achieved through nitrogen doping in MoS 2 /rGO nanocomposites. The synthesis was carried out via a two-step process. First, MoS 2 /rGO nanocomposites were prepared using a hydrothermal method at 190 °C for 24 h. Subsequently, the as-synthesized nanocomposites were annealed at 800 °C for 2 h under an NH 3 atmosphere to introduce nitrogen dopants. Structural characterization was carried out using x-ray diffraction, confirming the formation of the 2H phase of MoS 2 . The morphology and microstructure of MoS 2 nanosheets anchored on rGO were examined by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The successful incorporation of nitrogen in the nanocomposites was verified by energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy were employed to analyze the vibrational modes and structural defects induced by nitrogen doping. The influence of nitrogen doping on the electrochemical properties of the nanocomposites was systematically evaluated using cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic charge–discharge, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results demonstrate that nitrogen doping significantly improves electrochemical performance, highlighting the promising potential of MoS 2 /N-rGO nanocomposites for supercapacitor applications.
