Australian psychology students (N = 80) reported how likely they would be to discuss each of 19 topics with 12 target persons. More variance was due to targets than to topics, and there was considerable interaction between the two. Several clusters of relationships and five factors for topics were found. Different relationships and relationship clusters had distinctive topic profiles, varying in intimacy, variability, and profile shape. Some of these profiles contain information about the nature of relationships, such as father, which has characteristic peaks and troughs. Sex differences were found for targets disclosed, topics discussed, and topics chosen for particular targets.
