This article investigates the clinical pathway from initial assessment by a general dental practitioner to the delivery of care under general anaesthesia within the community dental service. It highlights the factors that contribute to patient waiting times and considers approaches to help general dental practitioners enhance the quality of referrals for paediatric patients. CPD/Clinical Relevance: Accurate referrals and comprehensive treatment planning will help optimize outcomes for paediatric patients undergoing dental treatment under GA.
