Key Points

  • This research aims to improve lung cancer treatment through targeted delivery of gemcitabine using a nanoplatform.
  • Developed a CD44-targeted nanoplatform (GEM@HA-(HAP/PSI)) for drug delivery.
  • Employed a high drug-loading HAP core and HA–PSI shell for active targeting and pH-responsive release.
  • Conducted in vitro and in vivo evaluations of antitumor effects.
  • The nanoplatform demonstrated superior in vitro antitumor activity compared to conventional delivery methods.
  • In vivo studies showed significant tumor suppression, indicating effective targeting to lung cancer cells.
  • CD44-mediated endocytosis facilitated enhanced drug uptake and release.

Abstract

A CD44-targeted nanoplatform (GEM@HA-(HAP/PSI)) with a high drug-loading HAP core and HA–PSI shell enables active targeting, pH-responsive release, CD44-mediated endocytosis, superior in vitro antitumor activity and in vivo tumor suppression.
