In the present work, a surface sol–gel process was successfully used to coat V2O5 nanorods with nanolayers of TiO2. The coated V2O5 nanorods exhibited a reversible capacity of 251.2 mA h g−1, higher than the uncoated ones. The composite thin film composed of graphene and the coated nanorods also exhibited better cycling stability. This simple and scalable surface sol–gel process can provide new opportunities to modify electrode nanomaterials for enhanced electrochemical properties.
