The purpose for this study was to examine topics published in highly regarded journals of teacher education between January 2006 and December 2009. The Journal of Teacher Education (U.S. perspective), Action in Teacher Education (U.S. perspective), and Teaching and Teacher Education (International perspective) were selected because of their high quality and excellent reputation. Content analysis of 721 articles was performed to examine current conversations in the field of teacher education and identify current issues. Results indicated that the current literature focuses on five major topics (teachers, instructional models, multicultural education, induction and mentoring, and field/partnership work). Differences among journals are described as well as a discussion of what is missing in our current literature.
