Behçet’s Disease: Review of Literature

Behçet's disease (BD) is an inflammatory disorder, identified as a vasculitis affecting variable-sized vessels. The exact etiology is unknown, though there are genetic, environmental, and immune response triggers to BD. This is a multisystem disease that typically presents with oral ulcers and additional findings that vary across individuals. There is no definitive diagnostic test, leading diagnosis to be made clinically. Treatment is focused on controlling inflammation to manage symptoms and reduce end-organ damage. BD is a complex disease that requires a multidisciplinary approach to optimize patient outcomes.
