Shows enhanced antimicrobial and antioxidant activities in nanocomposites, suggesting their multifunctional potential.
A novel, sustainable, and eco‐friendly approach to prepare CuO/SeO 2 and CoO/SeO 2 nanocomposites through Capparis spinosa L. extract is reported in this work. The results of phytochemical analysis and the antioxidant activity are complemented for plant extract and nanomaterials. The antibacterial strength of CuO/SeO 2 NC outperformed others by achieving inhibition against Bacillus subtilis at 46 ± 1.02 mm, while CoO/SeO 2 NC showed superior action against Staphylococcus aureus at 37 ± 1.50 mm and also displayed antifungal properties against Aspergillus niger with a 25 mm zone. Both FTIR and HR‐TEM analysis confirmed that CoO/SeO 2 NC antifungal performance stems from cell membrane damage and metabolic inhibition together with oxidative stress. The investigation focuses on the enhanced antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of such nanocomposites, and wide‐ranging spectroscopic and microscopic characterization provide new clues into their bioactive mechanisms and suggest that nanocomposites have the potential to be multifunctional antioxidant, antibacterial, and antifungal agents.
