The article is devoted to the problems of vocabulary acquisition in learning Russian as a foreign language. It examines the main difficulties encountered by learners of Russian: the considerable volume and complexity of the Russian lexicon, the influence of the native language (interference) on the perception and use of new words, phenomena of polysemy and homonymy, as well as challenges related to understanding and using Russian idiomatic expressions.
