A wetlands-focused Decision Support System (DSS) integrating Expert Systems (ES) anda hydrologic model is developed within a raster-based GIS and applied to two watersheds of theMaryland eastern shore. The DSS is used to develop a wetlands enhancement plan for atrazineexport control by first identifying export hot spots and then delineating optimized locations forpotential wetland construction and restoration. Hydrologic modeling is used to quantify the expectedreduction in agrichemical export load with the proposed expanded wetland acreage in place.Simulation results indicate a 46% reduction in atrazine export.
