Specific heat measurements between 4 and 40K on the S=1 Heisenberg one-dimensional system CsNiCl3 are presented. The results establish the existence of a magnetic contribution which is linear in temperature at the low-temperature region, and exhibits a broad maximum at intermediate temperatures. Good agreement between Green function theory for the magnetic specific heat and the experiment is obtained for the linear term at low temperatures.
