The characteristics of field of decoration, framing lines, and vessel shape of Mimbres Classic Black-on-white geometric design bowls from two sites are presented, and observations are made on some of the more obvious correlations. Descriptions from one of the sites suggest that the vessels' primary function was of a utilitarian nature. Comparative data indicate that the traits under discussion were widespread in the American Southwest, in time and space, while taxonomic considerations should oblige the student to be circumspect in the way in which they are used and interpreted. The reader is referred to LeBlanc and Khalil (1976) as a preface to this paper.
