Some short-lived alkyl radicals generated by the oxidation with either Ti3+–H2O2 or Fe2+–H2O2 system were trapped by a water-soluble nitroso aromatic spin-trap, 3,5-dibromo-4-nitrosobenzenesulfonate (DBNBS, 1), in aqueous solutions to yield the stable spin-adducts which could be easily detected and identified by electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy.
