THE purpose of this paper is to add our experience with the newer hypotensive drugs in the treatment of patients with severe hypertension and hemorrhagic eye grounds to the ever-growing list of reports on this subject. This treatment is too new to justify any final conclusions, but, in our short experience, it does appear to offer more than any previous medical therapy in this devastating disease.Since hypertension can be a benign disease with no effect on longevity, or a rapidly progressing, fatal disease, it is difficut to evaluate the effects of therapy on the final outcome.
