Controlled clinical study evaluates Taopatch® for pain relief and mouth opening in diverse patients, suggesting clinical utility.
The aim of study is to evaluate the effect of Taopatch® and their influence on the patient’s comfort as maximum opening of the mouth and pain. Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction affects a significant portion of the population and can lead to pain and functional limitations, impacting quality of life. The etiology is multifactorial, requiring multifaceted therapeutic approaches. Nanotechnology, such as the Taopatch® device, offers promising support in pain relief and function improvement. This study evaluates the effect of Taopatch® on mouth opening and TMJ pain relief in both adults and children. One hundred forty-nine patients (73 adults and 76 children) have been examined before (pre) and after (post) the application of Taopatch® type TMJ A placebo group of 43 patients have been examined according to the same parameters. The biophotons of TMJ Taopatch® can be useful in the daily practice of dentists, to increase the amount of maximum mouth opening and pain control. Featured Application: The findings of this study support the clinical use of the Taopatch® TMJ device as a non-invasive, drug-free adjunct in the management of temporomandibular disorders. Its immediate effects on pain reduction and improvement of maximum mouth opening make it particularly suitable for routine dental and orthodontic practice, both in adult and pediatric patients. Taopatch® may be integrated into multidisciplinary treatment protocols alongside physiotherapy, occlusal splints, and behavioral approaches, offering clinicians a safe and well-tolerated option to enhance patient comfort, functional recovery, and quality of life.
