All work was carried out in accordance with the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA) Universal guidance for archaeological field evaluation (2023), Standard for Archaeological field evaluation (2023) and Code of Conduct : professional ethics in archaeology (updated 2022) https://www.archaeologists.net/codes/cifa . The accession number RTA 1154 was used to identify all records and artefacts. Fieldwork was carried out by ULAS between 4-12th September 2024 and was followed by post-excavation and reporting. The project involved the excavation of three areas targeting archaeological features identified in the evaluation stage. Area 1 targeted ditches in Trench 2. Area 2 targeted the continuation of the ditch identified in Trench 5. Area 3 targeted ditches in Trench 6. Each area was set out using GPS and stripped using a tracked 360 excavator with a ditching bucket. Constraints included a tree protection area on the north-east side of Area 1. Phase 2 of the work consisted of three stripped areas targeting features identified in the previous archaeological work. As well as further evidence for the ditches recorded during the trenching, Area 3 found a series of multi-phased ditches and gullies. The stratigraphy and artefacts along with environmental evidence suggest that this might relate to a slightly earlier phase and could potentially indicate settlement activity in this area of the site.
