Providing nursing education using a concept-based curriculum offers the opportunity to educate and prepare new graduates to practice within an ever-changing health care environment. In a concept-based curriculum, learning is achieved through the understanding of the relationship between various concepts. This methodology assists students in transferring previously acquired knowledge to new experiences. Teaching-learning strategies that actively engage the learner are another focus of concept-based education. This article describes active teaching-learning strategies implemented during a curriculum revision to a concept-based nursing model.
