Abstract

Blow-based interaction in virtual reality (VR) offers an innovative approach to user engagement and accessibility, enhancing immersion and control through the act of blowing. This study explores a collaborative VR artwork designed to engage participants in a shared experience using blow and gesture. The experience unfolds in three scenes: relaxation, creation of a landscape through hand movements and blow, and synchronized communication between participants. The artwork, inspired by German Romanticism and the philosophy of the Sublime, emphasizes vastness, movement, and nature, fostering both personal and collective experiences. Participants use HMDs with blow sensors to navigate the environment, interacting via unique avatars. A user study involving 21 participants in 7 groups assessed emotional impacts using the BMIS tool and user experience through a questionnaire. Results revealed a positive emotional impact and high-quality experience, highlighting the effectiveness of blow-based interaction in VR for fostering collaboration and emotional engagement.
