Among both men and women, migration rates peak at the 20-24 age group and decline thereafter. Overall, however, migrant women tend to be younger than migrant men and, after the age of about 30, female migration rates decline much more rapidly than male rates (Cindy Fan, China on the Move, pp. 76-78).
