Educational therapy is an activity that ranges in practice from academic tutoring to psychotherapy. The qualifications, skills and techniques used by educational therapists seem so broad and varying that the profession seems difficult to define when compared to teaching or a particular school of psychotherapy. In an attempt to help specify the scope of educational therapy, this paper offers a definition of educational therapy. From this definition it is hoped that a discrete set of assumptions, goals, skills and techniques for educational therapy will emerge.
