Abstract

The “Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence” is a document prepared by the Ad Hoc Expert Group (AHEG) and adopted by UNESCO in November 2021. The document pays special attention to the ethical implications of AI systems in relation to with culture, education, science, information and communication. The document aims to guide policymakers and stakeholders on how to ensure that AI is developed and used ethically. Their vision of the future and the unfortunate fact that not all countries are part of the international agreement and, therefore, do not feel obliged to follow these guidelines, due to not being included or excluding themselves, are highlighted here. It is concluded that it lays the foundations for future regulatory instruments that can contribute to its application and that the necessary steps are taken to guarantee that ethics is put into practice. The instrument is expected to help nations and companies improve their ethical regulatory frameworks based on a universalist vision.
