Data on surname distribution in 24 rations of Kirov oblast with a total adult population of more than 785000 people were used to calculate the random inbreeding values for populations of the district and rural municipality levels and analyze the geographic distributions of these values. The data have been compared with the results of studies carried out in the 1980s.
