Key result
Outpatient cardiac rehab is linked to ~53% greater maximal exercise capacity in CAD patients.
Why the study?
There is a discordance between the benefits of cardiac rehabilitation and its development, particularly in developing countries, despite a favorable benefit/cost ratio.
Does ambulatory cardiac rehabilitation improve functional capacity and quality of life in patients with coronary artery disease?
Observational (n=158)
Yes

May support outpatient cardiac rehab in CAD; hypothesis-generating and requires randomized confirmation before practice change.
The cardiac rehabilitation is a part of coronary’s therapy. This is a discordence between his advantage and his development, principaly on the countries in development’s way. There effects have a good report benefit/cost. We collaborated with the departement of sports medecine who taked up this activity. We report our first expérience with 158 patients doing the ambulotary’s phase. The results showed an improvment in the functional’s capacity, a better quality of life for all the patients.

Abdelbaki et al. (2023) conducted an observational in Coronary artery disease (n=158). Cardiac rehabilitation was evaluated on Maximal exercise capacity (load in Watts). An outpatient cardiac rehabilitation program increased maximal exercise capacity by 53% (from an average of 60W to 92W) and improved quality of life in patients with coronary artery disease.
