Nowadays companies are constantly looking for maximum production efficiency and profitability. To achieve this goal, maintenance actions taken aim to improve the products quality. This article proposes a literature review of the techniques used in order to optimize the maintenance and the quality control of a production tool based on measurement of quality indicators. The main objective of this work is to determine the quality signals that are judicious to be used to model a production system. When a production system is subject to failures, maintenance actions can restore the system in normal conditions. With the literature review, different failure impact models, that is, how a failure changes the quality indicator, will be defined. These will be used to build a numerical model. The model will be used to find the best quality control parameters and the best maintenance policy for a production system characterized by given quality signals and given reliability parameters. Finally, the methodology used for simulations applied to a continuous production system will be presented.
