The article describes the advantages of using mind maps by middle school students at English lessons for fixing, studying and memorizing the grammatical material; developing their language competence. The conditions of formation of motivation to learn a foreign language (English), readiness for self-development and self-education, formation of communicative competence in communication and cooperation with peers and adults are also given.
