In their Classical Architecture — the Poetics of Order, Alexander Tzonis and Liane Lefaivre re-ordered the elements of Western classical architecture and provided a fresh insight into an ancient architectural style; their reasoning is aptly summarised in the quotation above. Similarly, by returning to an ancient technical manual, our research hopes to rediscover it from a different point of view, by means of scientific de-construction, so as to offer greater insight into the production of knowledge in the past.
