The existing linear generator are mostly made of conventional iron core and permanent magnet (PM). During the operation of this generator, it becomes heated because of the magnetic and mechanical losses. When the temperature rises in the linear generator, then the output power becomes low because of degradation of the remanence magnetism of the PMs. In this paper, a cooling system is proposed for the linear generator for preventing temperature rise. Simulation is executed by ANSYS Maxwell software to perform finite element analysis. To observe the temperature effect, a permanent magnet linear generator along with a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) are designed. The generator is placed inside a water cooled wind chiller based HVAC system. Simulation results show that, the linear generator using the proposed HVAC system produces 23.9 % more output power than that of the same without using HVAC.
