Morphological, physicochemical, and physical properties of the soils under cuttings and secondary forests restored after cuttings are described, as well as the main patterns of reforestation of cuttings in the middle taiga forests. The areas of mechanically disturbed soils are calculated. The qualitative and quantitative compositions of tree litter in native and secondary ecosystems are assessed. A significant influence of the replacement of tree vegetation on the temperature regime of podzolic soils (Retisols) and on the chemical composition of water in rivulets streamlets is observed. The prevalent elementary processes in the soils under secondary post-cutting forests are analyzed. The changes in the physicochemical properties of soils on cutting strips during natural reforestation are described. The mechanically disturbed soils of cutting areas are characterized; it is suggested that artificially turbated soils of cutting areas can be distinguished as turbozems. The specific features of soil organic matter within different elements of cutting areas are clarified.
