Practical clinical perspective demonstrates proactive management of candidiasis in hidradenitis suppurativa, suggesting improved treatment persistence.
Bimekizumab shows high efficacy in moderate-to-severe hidradenitis suppurativa, achieving deep clinical responses and improving structural lesions such as draining tunnels. However, mucocutaneous candidiasis is the most characteristic adverse event due to IL-17 pathway inhibition, although it is usually mild and manageable. Based on clinical experience, a proactive, risk-adapted approach including targeted antifungal strategies may improve tolerability. This perspective supports shifting from reactive to preventive management to optimize long-term treatment persistence.
