This release documents a method for analyzing astronomical images using LMC/ROC diagnostics, indicating potential image quality enhancements.
This release documents and provides a reproducible research package for LMC/ROC-based structural diagnostics of astronomical image data. The method treats astronomical image patches as bounded LMC fields and transforms raw intensity data into a normalized structural field t(x,y) ∈ [-1,1]. On this bounded field, a local relief analysis is performed. Each image point is classified into one of three structural states: +1 elevation, 0 neutral field, -1 depression. This produces a tri-code field representation that describes local field topology rather than only raw pixel brightness. A complementary ROC/ROA diagnostic layer evaluates impulse load, block load, structural load, ROA margin, and operability load. The purpose of the method is not to replace established astronomical image-processing pipelines, calibrated photometry, spectroscopy, point-spread-function modelling, or mission-certified analysis software. Instead, it provides an additional bounded structural diagnostic layer that may support image-quality assessment, anomaly separation, field-topology comparison, and future coupling of image morphology with spectral or directional data. The included technical note demonstrates the method on Hubble Deep Field sample patches and on a proof-of-concept MAST/HLA archival Hubble FITS run using HST/WFPC2 F439W DRZ products associated with M101 / NGC5457-FLD1. The analysis verifies bounded LMC representation and separates flat/background-only regions from structurally active, stressed, or critical diagnostic states under the implemented ROC/ROA load model. This release is intended for academic reading, reproducibility, non-commercial evaluation, and technical discussion.
