This article compares and contrasts the directions and ways of creative inter-generic transformation of the dramatic potential of Joseph Conrad's short story "To-morrow" (1903) into his own play adaptation One Day More (1919) and filmic opera Jutro (1976) by Hussakowski, Baird, and Sito inspired by them. It focuses upon analysis of the intersemiotic creative transmission of Conrad's original literary texts through the language of contemporary music/opera and dramatic/filmic performance, of the ways in which Conrad's short story and play intersect with Jutro as an instance of contemporary artistic mixed medium. The study examines the artistic potential of Conrad's original short story and the later adaptations by Conrad himself in his time and by Hussakowski, Baird, and Sito over fifty years later.
