AbstractThere is currently much interest in the development of expert systems. Knowledge acquisition—developing the knowledge base from an expert—is one of the most time-consuming aspects of the process. Work is under way on methods of automating this procedure, one of which is rule induction from a set of examples. This paper introduces rule induction and evaluates some of the practical difficulties. Keywords: expert systemsknowledge acquisitionrule induction
