The article is devoted to the policy of the government of General P.N. Wrangel in relation to the Crimean Tatars in the spring-autumn of 1920, when the command of the Armed Forces of the South of Russia in the Crimea tried to attract the main strata of the population, as well as national minorities, to its side with the help of moderate reforms. It is established that the political course towards the Muslims of the peninsula, which assumed limited self-government in the cultural and religious sphere, was opportunistic and did not receive support among the majority of Crimean Tatars united by the national democratic movement, whose leadership structures were opposed to whites and were active participants in socio-political processes in the region.
