Conserving Historic Urban Landscape for the Future Generation – Beyond Old Streets Preservation and Cultural Districts Conservation in Taiwan

by acclamation, the first such instrument on the historic environment issued by UNESCO in 35 years. This paper will first review the preservation of "old streets" and the conservation of "cultural districts" in Taiwan. Then, the paper will discuss how the concept of "historic urban landscape" could be transformed into an approach or a tool for conserving historic cities and towns in Taiwan.
