The complexity of mathematics teaching and learning processes gives rise to various approaches and theories that attempt to describe, explain, and improve these processes. This has led to studies aimed at clarifying, comparing, and articulating theories to facilitate research. The Onto-Semiotic Approach (OSA) has emerged as a proposal for developing a modular and integrative theoretical system for mathematics education that addresses not only the educational-instructional problem but also the epistemological, ontological, and psychological issues involved. Thirty years after the publication of the first works on the OSA, Godino’s book (2024), which we summarize in this article, reviews and systematizes the different modules that compose this theoretical system, the basic assumptions that support them, the articulation between them, the connections with other theories, and presents examples of the application of various conceptual and methodological tools.
